Background

The Department for Business, Innovation & Skills (BIS) is the Department for economic growth. The Department invests in skills and education to promote trade, boost innovation and help people to start and grow a business. BIS also protects consumers and reduces the impact of regulation.

BIS is the Government's lead Department in enabling and driving up economic growth, through support for post-19 education and skills. A major priority for Government is to build an internationally competitive skills base by creating a dynamic and efficient skills system served by a network of responsive and high quality Further Education Colleges and Training Providers.

The Skills Funding Agency (the Agency) is an Executive Agency of the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS).
