  • A CV (maximum 2-3 pages) with your education and professional qualifications and full employment history.
  • An accompanying Supporting Statement (maximum 2 pages) - this is your opportunity to demonstrate how you meet each of the criteria set out in the person specification. The initial sift which takes place is based on this information so it is important to fully address the criteria. You should aim to provide specific examples that demonstrate how your knowledge and experience matches each of the criteria, and which describe what your role was in achieving a specific result.

The Selection and Recruitment Process

All appointments are made following an open competition conducted in accordance with the Code of Practice published by the Commissioner for Public Appointments.

Short listing of candidates will be undertaken by assessing the information provided in your CV and expression of interest. The short listing will be undertaken by a selection panel against strict criteria.

Selection panel Members

The panel will consist of four members:

The closing date for applications is noon, Friday, 19th October 2018.

Applications will be sifted on Friday, 26th October. At this date a shortlist of candidates will be selected for panel interview. Successful candidates can expect to be invited to interview during week commencing 29th October & 5th November. Those who are unsuccessful at this stage will be notified in writing.

Panel interviews will be held week commencing 19th November 2018 in London. Details of appointable candidates will then be put forward to the Secretary of State. The Secretary of State or another Minister may ask to meet each of the appointable candidates (after interview by the selection panel). Candidates will be notified of the outcome as soon as possible after the Minister has decided.

During the period following appointment the successful candidate will be required to undertake familiarisation and orientation activities. Subject to obtaining all necessary approvals in time, the successful candidate will ideally take up the post by 1 January 2019 or shortly after.
